Looking for Lucy Buick, by Rita Murphy  (author of  Harmony, Night Flying) Grade 8 - up

Lucy was the baby in the backseat of the Buick convertible that Rocco accepted as payment for a gambling
debt.  Rocco’s five eccentric sisters welcomed her and raised her as the daughter none of them ever had.
Eighteen years later, she is working in the family hosiery plant when it burns to the ground, and she is
assumed to be dead.  Lucy seizes this opportunity to hop a train out of town, hunt for her real family, and
establish her own identity.  She meets some wacky and loving people and undergoes a metamorphosis similar
to the butterflies that she helps raise.

The Wright 3, by Balliett Blue   (author of Chasing Vermeer)  Grade 5 - up

Calder, Petra and Tommy, sixth graders, help save Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House from being torn apart
and sent to various museums.  They use what they know about Fibonacci numbers, pentaminoes, and take
clues from unusual characters to preserve the House, ghosts and all.
